Coast Guard CFR 182.530 requires vessels
carrying “Passengers for Hire” to be equipped
with high bilge water alarms. This is a strong recommendation
for private vessels carrying “Passengers for
Fun”
ABYC: “H-22 ELECTRIC BILGE PUMP
SYSTEMS- 22.7.3 On boats with an enclosed accommodation
compartment, an alarm shall be installed indicating
that bilge water is approaching the maximum bilge
water level”. As of July 2005 |

Have you heard this one?
“We didn't know there was a problem until the
floor boards started floating."
Boat develops a leak from bad packing gland or broken
though hull fitting. You don't hear the bilge pump
running or see the discharge. Before you know it,
floating floorboards or worse. Experts agree, identifying
the leak quickly greatly increases the chance of saving
the boat.
